Product highlights
Designed by CWC to meet the demands of the most technical anglers, the CWC GUPPIE lure is a fearsome hybrid between jerkbait and tailbait. Its action is characterized by wide amplitude and a pronounced roll that emits strong visual and vibratory signals, capable of triggering strikes from the wariest predators. Thanks to its sinking design and carefully studied balance, it sinks quickly to the desired water layer while maintaining a stable trajectory, whether you perform a steady retrieve or a jerking presentation.
The great strength of this versatile pike lure lies in its screw-in tail system which allows you to instantly change its behavior. By simply swapping the tail, you move from a wide, thrashing action to a tighter, snappier action without changing the rest of your rig. This modularity makes it an ideal ally for prospecting different spots, adapting your approach to wind, current or water clarity, and optimizing your fishing time.
Technical specifications
- Sinking lure of the jerkbait/tailbait type, developed specifically for freshwater predators and notably pike.
- Balanced design allowing it to maintain a regular swimming depth even during aggressive presentations or long pulls.
- Screw-in tail system offering the possibility to use different tail shapes to modify vibration volume and swimming amplitude.
- Convex profile designed to clear the hook as much as possible and improve penetration into the fish's mouth at the hookset.
- Sinking behavior with a predominantly horizontal fall, accompanied by an attractive side-to-side rocking during pauses.
- Robust construction suited to repeated use, capable of withstanding the stresses of fights with large fish and heavy tackle.
Advantages and key strengths
In action, the GUPPIE CWC stands out for its ability to cover large areas of water and work effectively at different depths with a single lure body. By varying the tail and the animation rhythm you can adopt an ultra-aggressive approach to provoke active fish or, conversely, slow the presentation to entice following or lethargic specimens. This adaptability makes it a go-to for tackling large lakes, slow rivers and cluttered zones where big predators hold.
Its convex profile and hook placement reduce the risk of unhooks and improve hookup rates. Paired with a suitable line, the GUPPIE pike lure allows precise casts, excellent feel of the lure action through the rod and fine depth control. It thus integrates easily into a modern fishing strategy combining fast prospecting, locating active fish and persisting on the most promising areas.
Usage tips
To make the most of this sinking jerkbait/tailbait, we recommend animating it with a rod that has good backbone, alternating sharp pulls, long sweeps and marked pauses. With a shad-type tail, favor a steady cast-and-retrieve punctuated by small rod twitches to bring the undulating action to life. With a more tapered or comma-shaped tail, focus more on lateral jerks and prolonged stops to let the lure sink horizontally while rocking side to side.
Rig the GUPPIE on braid suited to the size of the targeted fish, complemented by a leader resistant to abrasion. Frequently vary retrieval speed, angle of entry into the water and pause lengths to find the combination that triggers the most bites. Used this way, the CWC GUPPIE lure proves as effective in fast prospecting as in methodical pressure on a zone held by large predators.
FAQ
Question 1 : Is this lure suitable for beginner anglers or do you need to already master jerkbait animations?
Answer: The CWC GUPPIE lure remains accessible to less experienced anglers thanks to its effective simple cast-and-retrieve action, while offering significant technical potential for those who wish to progress in jerkbait animations and explore the full range of a modular tailbait.
